ABC’s Good Morning America to host World Champion Horseshoe Pitcher, Alan Francis

NHPA World Horseshoe Pitching Champion, Alan Francis and his wife Amy will be making an appearance on GOOD MORNING AMERICA, Wednesday, May 13, 2009.

During the week of May 11 through 15, the show will be holding a “ Battle of the Anchors” with experts appearing live to instruct the anchor people in their respective sport or activity. The week culminates with live competition among the anchors on Friday, May 15. The NHPA has been invited to provide “experts” in horseshoe pitching.  We are sending the very best!  Alan and Amy will be making the trip to New York City courtesy of ABC, along with NHPA 2nd Vice President, Tina Hawkins, to promote the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association on national television.

The anchors will be pitching on brand new portable horseshoe courts, courtesy of Jerry LaBrosse and the MGSHPA.

Through the efforts of Regional Director, Leo Michaud, clubs in and around the New York area will be providing clay to fill the pits as well as technical support.

If you are not able to actually watch the show, be sure to set your DVR, TEEVO, VCR or whatever video recording device you have at your disposal to capture this monumental publicity opportunity for the NHPA!

New national and state rankings function has been added to MyNHPA.com.    The listings are sorted by state, class and player ringer average.  Each state listing provides four rankings for a NHPA player.

MyNHPA.com Continues to Grow in Popularity

It's been a month since I have implemented the MyNHPA.com website.  People from 56 different cities across America have used this site.  The great states of Kansas and Missouri continue to lead the pack.  I'd like to thank Larry Collette (KS) and Gregg Craven (MO) for spreading the word.  Heck, I didn't even know Kansas had 28 different cities. 

By far the most popular section has been the Leader Boards and Rankings.  You quickly realize that 93% of all horseshoe pitchers in the nation pitch 50% or less ringers.  Missouri with 713 pitchers continues to have a very active leader board that tends to change week after week, with the exception of Michael Bowman.   Michael continues to dominate the tournaments.  If fact, I am still sore from the beating he gave me during the winter league by throwing 47 ringers out of 50 shoes.
